Sunrise Children's Center

Curriculum

The Infant program offers full and part-time care for babies ages 6 weeks to 12 months. Infants will learn through interactions with caring adults and other babies. Age appropriate toys and materials for learning and fun are a part of our nurturing environment.

Toddler and Preschool classrooms are set up and equipped with materials in learning centers so that children can have freedom to explore their environment in an organized and supportive way. Keeping in mind the developmental stages of the children, teachers choose units of study based on areas of interest to the children (for example, seasons, teddy bears, dinosaurs, etc.) and develop activities around these units. Social skills are important for children to develop, and Sunrise offers many opportunities for shared play and problem solving.

The Full-Day Kindergarten program has a strong literacy and math base. Children work throughout the year on their reading and writing skills and beginning numeracy skills. Science, social studies, music, art, and physical education are also important components of the program.
The After-School program incorporates supportive homework time, outside play, art, and cooperative play.

Sunrise offers a curriculum based on the developmental needs of the children. Active play is encouraged for physical development at all ages. Our seven fenced play areas offer a variety of outdoor activities for all children.
