The Longview School, located in Deerfield, NH, is seeking a Counselor to provide support to high school aged youth in a small therapeutic school community. At capacity, Longview enrolls 22 students and has a small, tightly knit team who strive to provide the best learning environment possible for our students as they work toward graduation.
Our robust Adventure Based Counseling program sets us apart from other similar settings and offers our staff one day a week in the field. On these days staff facilitate outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, surfing, skiing, flatwater and whitewater canoeing and various team building games. The Longview School offers a supportive working environment and is a small therapeutic alternative school serving more than 20 communities in Southern New Hampshire.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Individual counseling with case load of students
- Special ed case management
- Strong relationship building and behavior management skills
- Individualized education plan development and progress monitoring
- Ongoing communication with families and districts
- Participation in all Adventure Based Counseling activities
Qualifications:
- Licensure, certification or qualifications in mental health field
- Knowledge of special education: learning disabilities, emotional, behavioral and mental health needs
- Experience with Google Suite
- Must possess strong organizational skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- A passion for the outdoors
