Counselor – The Longview School

The Longview School, located in Deerfield, NH, is seeking a Counselor to provide support to students grades 7-12 in a small therapeutic school community. At capacity, Longview enrolls 24 students and has a small, tightly-knit team that strives to provide the best learning environment possible for our students as they work toward graduation. Our robust Adventure Based Counseling program sets us apart from other similar settings and offers our staff one day a week in the field. On these days staff facilitate outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, surfing, skiing, flatwater and whitewater canoeing, and various team-building games. The Longview School offers a supportive working environment and is a small therapeutic alternative school serving more than 20 communities in Southern New Hampshire.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Individual counseling with a caseload of students
  • Special ed case management
  • Strong relationship-building and behavior-management skills
  • Individualized education plan development and progress monitoring
  • Ongoing communication with families and districts
  • Participation in all Adventure Based Counseling activities

Qualifications:

  • Licensure, certification, or qualifications in the mental health field
  • Knowledge of special education: learning disabilities, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs
  • Experience with Google Suite
  • Must possess strong organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • A passion for the outdoors

Middle School Teacher – The Longview School

The Longview School is seeking a Middle School Teacher to provide content instruction in a multi-grade classroom designed for adolescents with educational disabilities. This teaching position includes a small class size of 5 students in the ’25-’25 school year in an adventure-based alternative setting with a competitive salary.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaboration with a team teacher
  • Lesson planning and instruction, assessment, and SEL instruction
  • Development of experiential activities
  • Parent and district communications
  • Planning and participation in adventure-based activities within a small team and participation in extracurricular activities
  • Take part in adventure-based counseling activities within a small team every week

Qualifications, required skills and experience:

  • New Hampshire Teaching License
  • Knowledge of Curriculum Standards and standards-based grading, knowledge of special education, instructional strategies, MTSS, and experience in an alternative school setting
  • Must possess strong organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Team oriented
