Hampton Beach, NH – On Saturday, Feb. 2, The RSEC Academy sent a team of nine students to plunge into the Atlantic Ocean. The occasion marked the Academy’s fifth year participating in the High School Penguin Plunge.

The theme for this year’s Plunge was the Greek Olympics and the Academy students dressed the part, sporting togas and laurels after their brave immersion in the chilly winter water. Thanks to the very generous donations of staff, students, and families, the Academy group raised just over $2400 to support the New Hampshire athletes representing Special Olympics Team USA at the World Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea.  The students also won two awards in the small school division — the King Flock award for the team that has the highest dollar average raised per plunger and the Macaroni Flock award for the team that raises the most money.

In total, the event raised over $175,000.
