We will be observing fire safety month throughout the month as well as National Fire Safety Week October 7-13. As we study the topic, we are expecting a visit from the Amherst Fire Department. We also will be distributing fire safety calendars for all families during Fire Safety Week.
For more information about what you can do to make sure your family knows what to do in the event of a fire, visit nfpa.org.
Community helpers to visit Sunrise
In the month of October, Sunrise will be celebrating Safety and Community Helpers. We have several special visitors coming to our center throughout the month. These will include
- Amherst Fire Department
- Amherst Police
- Grandmaster Bobby from Tokyo Joe’s Studio with a presentation on personal safety
We are also looking into scheduling a visit from a nurse, a veterinarian or vet technician, and a current or former member of the military. Please watch for BrightWheel notices and information posters at the front desk for dates and details as events are scheduled.
Safety at Sunrise: EOP update
Sunrise continues to actively work and improve on our Emergency Operations Plan. On October 8th, as part of Professional Development Day, the Sunrise staff took part in REACT training where they actively practiced drills from the Incident Command System. As part of NH Cohort on EOP, Sunrise will hold four of the eight ICS emergency drills during this school year. We will also hold a planned Family Reunification Drill by the end of November. Detailed information on how this drill will take place will go home mid-October. We plan to have our One Call Now system up and running by then. If you ever have any questions, please see Ms. Sarah or Ms. Lorraine.
