The RSEC Academy Announces Four New Hires
The RSEC Academy has added four individuals to its staff as the school prepares for the fall arrival of its students. The Academy provides a middle school and diploma-granting high school program and is approved by the NH Department of Education for special education and as a nonpublic school. The Academy is one of several programs in New Hampshire that comprise RSEC (Regional Services and Education Center).
Mary Ellen Bradley of Groton, MA and Michele Sheremeta of Amherst, NH are new reading teachers. Ryan Carey of Windham, NH will serve as a science teacher, and Deidra Boyle of Milford, NH will serve as a paraprofessional at the middle school.
Mary Ellen Bradley earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Pace University, a certificate in general special education from Rivier College and an OrtonGillingham Certificate from the Masonic Learning Center. She has been in a classroom setting since 2007 following more than a decade in technology-related work.
Michele Sheremeta holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rivier College and plans to complete a Master of Education degree from Rivier in 2011. She has worked in education since 2000, when she began her career at Sunrise Early Intervention, another RSEC program.
Ryan Carey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychobiology from the University of New England, where he also minored in marine biology and environmental studies. He is an active outdoorsman and scientist who recently made the transition to a classroom setting. He also worked in an RSEC program, The Summit School, as a long-term substitute science teacher.
Deidre Boyle earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Barrington College and has spent nearly 15 years in education. She was a home school instructor for 10 years and has experience in program development and evaluation. The RSEC Academy was developed for students identified with specific learning disabilities in response to a growing community need recognized by local school districts.
RSEC is a private not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation governed by a Board of Directors that includes the Superintendent of Schools from SAU 39, 40, and 41, four school board members, and two community members who are elected for three-year terms. Over the years, RSEC has provided school districts in southern New Hampshire with a variety of high quality programs and services. Currently, 200 students from approximately 28 southern New Hampshire towns attend or receive services through RSEC programs.
