The Longview School, located in Deerfield, NH, is seeking a Special Education Teacher for the 23-24 School Year, to provide math instruction to high school aged teenagers in a small therapeutic school community. At capacity, Longview enrolls 22 students and has a small, tightly knit team who strive to provide the best learning environment possible for our students as they work toward graduation.
Our robust Adventure Based Counseling program sets us apart from other similar settings and offers our staff one day a week in the field. On these days staff facilitate outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, skiing, flatwater and whitewater canoeing and various team building games. The Longview School offers a supportive working environment and is a small therapeutic alternative school serving more than 20 communities in Southern New Hampshire.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Strong relationship building skills
- Lesson planning and instruction of required content areas
- Conduct and write formal diagnostic and functional assessments
- Develop and write Individual Education Plans for students
- Collaborate with staff in the development and delivery of the curricula
- Development of experiential activities
Qualifications:
- NH Teaching Certificate or educational qualifications in a related field
- Knowledge of Common Core and NH Curriculum Standards
- Knowledge of alternative instructional strategies, learning disabilities, emotional, behavioral and mental health needs
- Experience with Google Suite
- Must possess strong organizational skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- A passion for the outdoors
