Why Sunrise
About Sunrise Children’s Center
Learn and grow in a caring environment
Sunrise Children’s Center is a place for children to learn and grow in a caring environment. Located in Amherst, NH, Sunrise is a home away from home for children ages six weeks to 10 years old (or fourth grade) through our infants and toddlers program, full-day childcare services, preschool education and school-age program.
Our approach is developmental in nature. We base our curriculum on the fact that all children grow at their own pace and learn best by doing. We have brought together the best practices from early childhood education and special education to provide the best curriculum possible for children in our program.
Convenience
Our part-time and full-time programs offer many options for families. School-agers are offered both before and after-school care and programming on school holidays, snow days and during vacation weeks. Sunrise welcomes all children regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, nationality or religious background.
Individualized experiences
Our early childhood education professionals become so familiar with the unique social and developmental needs of each child that care plans and meal schedules become second nature. Infants thrive in a stimulating environment with large, bright rooms, their own cribs, and attentive caregivers who love coming to work every day.
Our campus
Our campus has several playground spaces designed for different age groups so children may hone their motor skills on climbing structures, swings, slides and balance beams. Inside, daily experiences such as visits from local librarians, Zumba classes, music, art, and imaginative play supplement the many materials we provide to encourage children to learn by doing.
Creative curriculum
Sunrise is dedicated to providing a caring and nurturing environment. The staff is selected based on their ability to interact positively with young children, as well as for their educational and early childhood experience.
The welcoming and supportive atmosphere of our classrooms is carefully created to stimulate the children in a developmentally appropriate manner. We provide opportunities for exploring, learning and social interaction through a variety of daily activities.
Children learn best through interactions with their physical and social environment. Classrooms are set up with learning centers so that the children can explore their environment in an organized way. Teachers choose units of study based on seasons, concepts (for example, colors, shapes, etc.), areas of interest (ie. dinosaurs, bugs) and authors and develop activities around these units.
